Before the slogans "Pure Michigan" and "Great Lakes, Great Times," Michigan boomed in the 1950s with it's "Water Wonderland" campaign. In 1964, the state decided it also needed to push its winter activities, therefore changing the campaign to "Water Winter Wonderland." It was later changed in 1968.
